Payload Interface Mezzanine (PIM) is a family of space flight heritage interface boards with user-defined I/O (analog, digital, serial, etc.) to handle any unique payload requirements. Through a dedicated mezzanine interface the PIM connects with a PIC to create a payload PIE slice. This distributed processing architecture isolates the spacecraft bus from the payload, reduces payload burden on the bus, and is ideal for missions with multiple, disparate payload/experiments. One of the mezzanines was designed as a Compact Solid State Data Recorder which provides a low SWaP, high storage and throughput and much more affordable option to available space SSDR products.
