INNOFLIGHT KI-103 END CRYPTOGRAPHIC UNIT RECEIVED NSA CERTIFICATION

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 4, 2019 – On January 3, 2019, Innoflight received confirmation that its KI-103 End Cryptographic Unit (ECU), also known as GNOME, has been certified by the National Security Agency (NSA) for Top Secret and Below (TSAB) COMSEC space missions. The certification also covers the KI-103A and KI-103B, combining the ECU and the SCR-100, Innoflight’s flight heritage S-band Software-defined Compact Radio, into a single unit enclosure and hence a ‘one-stop-shop’ integrated communications subsystem for satellite integrators.
“Innoflight is thrilled to receive this prestigious certification after several years in the making, this is the result of great teamwork from Innoflight’s team and the U.S. government,” said Trevor Coolidge, Vice President, Engineering and Operations at Innoflight. “Innoflight is one of four companies nationwide and the only small business with a TSAB-certified ECU for space applications.”
Innoflight’s CEO and President, Jeff Janicik, added “This is a result of persistence and commitment to a communications design that is truly enabling for highly relevant small satellites.”
The KI-103 is based on AES-256 encryption technology and provides downlink mission data/telemetry encryption as well as uplink command decryption and authentication services. The KI-103 is compact and low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP), ideal for CubeSats and NanoSats. The KI-103 is delivered with software for efficient key loading/management and allows for the key memory to be reprogrammed just prior to system deployment. The KI-103 also supports Over-The-Air Rekey (OTAR) for further mission flexibility. The KI-103 can be delivered as a standalone unit or integrated with Innoflight’s Software-defined Compact Radios for best integration.
Innoflight has already received multiple orders from the U.S. government and other companies for the KI-103 with flight heritage expected this year. Innoflight also offers other cryptographic and cyber products, making it a pioneer in satellite secure communications.
